Know what? I'm a pretty lucky guy. I've realized that more and more lately. Life is pretty amazing. I'm surrounded by good people, I'm healthy, and I have no reason to complain. Want to know how I know I'm happy and that life is so fan-diddly-tastic? It's places like Lazy Day Cafe. Here sits a place whose sole purpose, as far as I can tell, is to offer up a delightful menu of breakfast and brunch favorites, to folks lucky enough to stop in. I mean, it's in the name, right? Lazy Day Cafe? If you're lucky enough in your life to have a lazy day, why not spend it in brunch? Breakfast out for no reason except to go out, is one of the highest signs of your life being pretty great. Such was my luck when I FINALLY tried this little spot, tucked away in the back of the Ivy Place development. It was a lazy Saturday, and there I was on the patio, catching up with a friend, and thinking about how terrific my life was if the biggest problem I could think of was whether to go with the much-heralded lemon pancakes, or the full-on Lazy Deluxe. The Deluxe won the day, and I was promptly delivered a biscuit top and bottom, with a breaded chicken breast, bacon, gravy, and an egg in between, with a order of hash browns sidles up next to this stack on the side. While I tend to agree with the wisdom of dark meat, I dug right in to the white meat breast, and again I felt pretty lucky. Lucky to be where I am, where even a simple biscuits and chicken and gravy sandwich dripping with the pierced egg yolk can still make me so happy. And as if I wasn't already hogging the fortunate line, I was thankful I got to try the lemon pancakes. Yep, they're worth the discussion. I mean, they're not gimmicky lemon, they're full lemon. The real deal. This bright spot on my already great day, on my already great week, on what's feeling like a pretty fortunate life. I don't take for granted those lemon pancakes and what they mean. Go taste some of the good life. Take the extra time. Spend a few more bucks (and I only mean a few--prices are pretty reasonable) and soak it in. Epilogue: I went home and immediately after this, things got even better. I mean, life is pretty sweet when you eat at Lazy Day and your day gets even better later on.

Came here on a Friday for breakfast. It's a cozy and cute cafe parked in the corner of a plaza with other local shops. I ordered the lazy day deluxe and my bf got the breakfast burrito. Omg both were HUGE but oh so good. I liked his burrito better because of the chile verde smothering it. We also had to get one of the kids portions of their famous lemon pancakes. Holy crap. Seriously one of the best pancakes I've ever had. This place is definitely a must for exactly one of those lazy days

A year and a half-ish removed from the last visit and they seem a lot more back in order. Lots of staff, which seemed to serve for expediting as well as being heavily involved in a positive customer experience and they have added patio tables. It feels almost as if they've decided to run a restaurant instead of treating it like a lackadaisical hobby. Most of the issues from last time are gone now, other than over-medium eggs apparently means over-hard. Given Utah in general's difficulty managing eggs correctly, this isn't too surprising. They also probably need to re-assess their prep. Running out of a few main dishes by 12:30 or earlier, when you're primarily a breakfast spot, is not really desirable. 1:00 would be fine and they should fine tune that a bit more. I'm all for low waste and I applaud them for that worthy goal, but I think they're a little too far over there. All that aside, it did give me a chance to try the shrimp and grits, which were interesting and worlds better than anything else I've had in the city grits-wise. Shrimp was spicier than expected and I would have liked either a bit more bacon or cheese, but that's mostly minor nit-picking. This wouldn't be my first choice, but it was a decent substitute. The lemon pancakes, the perennial star here, were back to be doing to perfection. My wife liked whatever plate of vegetables she wound up getting and her sides of toast were also on the money. She is also a raving fan of their coffee, so if you're into that, there you go. Evidently, it's not one you can buy commercially... All in all, while not ready to add them back onto the other list just yet, as they still have a ways of ground to go yet, I am adding them back into the regular rotation.

I've been visiting Lazy Day Cafe regularly for about 3 years now. I think of it as a bit of a hidden treasure. Tucked away in the back corner of the Ivy Place "strip mall," Lazy Day Cafe is the kind of place most people would never know about unless they had heard of it through word of mouth. So, let me help in getting that word of mouth out there a bit more. Lazy Day Cafe deserves it! While the decor leans toward kitschy and dated, the food and service are superior. Whether one is looking for a straight forward breakfast/brunch of eggs, omelets, pancakes; or if your interested in trying something with more of a twist, they've got it. While my kids are in love with the lemon pancakes, I can't help myself when it comes to the shrimp and grits. They also have ever changing specials. Over the years I've tried almost everything on the menu and can honestly say I've never had a dish that was less than great. I also have to mention my love for the fact that it is run by people from the neighborhood, who try and make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. The service can get a bit slow when they are busy, but they are always friendly and conscientious.

I come here all the time since it's conveniently right across the street from my work, and it's absolutely amazing food. I don't know how they prepare their omelettes, but I seriously want to know, because they are the best damn omelettes I've ever had. I highly recommend trying this place out!

Seriously, the best kept secret in Salt Lake. My husband and I needed to get away from the house and found this place on yelp. I had the best corned beef hash of my life! My husband had the lemon pancakes which were to die for! Standing room only on Sunday but so worth it! I can't wait to come back!

The food was four-star, the service was more like one or two on the day we went. A group of friends got together for a farewell brunch on a Saturday. There were 10 of us in all, and this fact immediately stressed out the hostess. She kept insisting that she couldn't seat us all together and seemed generally harried even though we were the only large party there at the time and the only ones awaiting a table. We waited 40+ minutes, which makes me think we probably should have opted for something closer to downtown like Park Cafe or Pig & a Jelly Jar. The cafe itself is pretty cute, but the strip mall location wasn't. At least we spent our long wait in the shade, and all of my friends are good-natured and just happy to spend time together. When we did get seated on the small outdoor patio (which was nice!), they tried sitting us in two groups. We pushed the tables together without any problem so we could all be together. When taking our orders, the staff made sure to insist that they weren't used to cooking for that many people at once, so our orders would be coming out staggered. I have a hard time believing they've never had a family or group of 10 brunching there before, but you would think we were asking the world of them. Fortunately, that's where the bad experience ended and the magic began. The orders did come out staggered, but only mildly so. We all got our food without a long wait, which was a pleasant surprise. And the food was awesome. The lemon pancake (5/5) was a knockout, I would order again without hesitation. (Tip: if you want to order a savory dish, just get the kid's lemon pancake for $2.50 on the side. You're welcome.) My shrimp and grits were tasty (4/5), although it needed more of the shrimp because the grits were under-seasoned on their own. The OJ (3/5) was nothing to write home about, I don't think it was fresh-squeezed. My friends who ordered the special of the day (peaches & cream French toast) seemed pleased, as did most everyone regardless of what they ordered. And the prices were really reasonable; most dishes were around $8 with generous portions. The food was a winner, along with the ambiance, which surprised me because of the strip mall location. Honestly, I'm sure this place is a 4- or 5-star experience if you only come with a couple people. On a Saturday late-morning, two people would have been seated immediately and enjoyed a really satisfying, homestyle chic brunch. Even my friend who was the most annoyed with the service said he'd easily come back with a smaller party. Give it a try (and dedicate a lemon pancake to me).

Can I first say that I am an avid foodie who craves great diner food! Well, this place satisfied every one of my breakfast needs! Their Spicy Shrimp and Grits was cooked perfectly and spiced well. Their lemon pancake...my favorite pancake to date!!!!! Pay these folks a visit, you won't be disappointed.

On our last day in Salt Lake, we decided to hit up Lazy Day Cafe on our way to the airport. We were welcomed by a homey dining room with amazing coffee. For food, I ordered the veggie omelette (Spinach, onions, peppers, mushrooms) with feta cheese. It came with hash browns - They were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as well as mysteriously flavourful. I also ordered a side of sausage. Their homemade sausage patties aren't your typical breakfast sausage - They are meaty and herby, not overly salty or greasy. My friend wasn't into that as much as I was but it really depends what you're expecting. Overall, I'd love to go to Lazy Day Cafe again and I'd certainly recommend it!

It's not that it was terrible, but it wasn't extraordinary either. I think that Lazy Day Cafe has the potential of being as good as many of the other restaurants along 3300 South. I could be wrong, but no doubt that on this particular visit it was not only hostile, but it was also a little bit too much for my taste; a combination of those two things is going to knock down this review a couple stars. There isn't much of a waiting area in this location, which is tough if you're coming in a big group (which I would highly avoid). I came alone on a Saturday and as I stood, the below freezing chill poured in. The little "waiting area" near the front has the door opening and closing non-stop during the early morning rush. You actually have to wait to be seated and yet, there was no host at the front for several minutes; in fact, the "host" was waiting tables at the same time. Yes, it was daunting to watch. Tell me how this is a functional "breakfast house" when people are trying to cram inside to stay warm and eventually sit down to eat with no order (pun intended)? Anywho, this group of gals came in after myself and another couple. The host, looking a little overhwhelmed took their names first, before mine and the couple who came in before I did. It wasn't a big deal to me, but I could tell the gentleman waiting with his girl, was very off put. As he confronted the host, the host had very little to say, and awkwardly defended his actions by seating those women first. I'm not a confrontational person, especially when food is involved, but surely the host should have something a little better to say than "Sorry, Man." Maybe get another person at the front to strictly handle patrons trying to get a table? Nevertheless, myself and then the couple were seated. After all that, I enjoyed the Lazy Day special: Eggs, Hashbrowns, Bacon, and a Lemon Pancake. There is sort of a novelty to this, as I've never tried Lemon Pancakes before. Yet, it was good! The rest I could do elsewhere. Unfortunately, due to the events mentioned above, I really just wanted to get out of there. My waitress, she was awesome and funny too! But at this point, where waiting actually took longer than the food and service combined, I am pretty sure I will be skipping this place next time.

Always a favorite! The Lazy Deluxe is pure decadence and deliciousness! The panko-crusted chicken breast, paired with the thick, bacon and homemade biscuit and sausage gravy is a delight! My husband hit the chili Verde smothered burrito and was in heaven! The lemon pancake is to die for!

Mine and my boyfriends very favorite breakfast joint. We both order the shrimp & grits and a lemon pancake on the side. We have tried shrimp and grits in other states and this one is by far the best. The lemon pancakes are hands down the tastiest pancakes I have ever had. I love them so much that they are my profile picture on instagram.

I'm really disappointed with the over all experience I had with Lazy Days. I'm especially disappointed with a very simple mistake made by a very nice waitress and the fact that it was completely ignored. I'll start with my regular review and roll into why this went from a borderline 4 star review all the way down to 2. I liked the over all ambience. Very mom and pop, which I can appreciate. The decor is whimsical and haphazard which to me is an attractive quality. When I want comfort food I don't envision perfect modern decor and dressed up servers. I image shabby chic and a tucked away location. This restaurant delivers on that. We scored a table by the fire which was very nice since I was cold and my husband was hot. (Sitting there ended up being a mistake because a swinger couple ended up sitting next to us and discussed the people they were or were not sleeping with at the moment - which at a restaurant is rude and gross, and quite frankly I lost my appetite.) We ordered the breakfast burrito and the lazy day deluxe. We got our food within 20 minutes. Both were fine except that our hash-browns were both burned. Over cooked potatoes are fine with me, I even enjoy them. But black are not acceptable. All you taste is burnt food in your mouth. Very sad. Especially since I've never had burnt hash browns from a Denny's or a Village Inn. Just add oil to the cooking surface! It's simple. I also found the chili verde very bland. But it was easily overcome with a dash of salt and some cholula . Maybe that's how they intend their food to be since they have a huge selection of hot sauces? Here's where everything slid down hill; We got up and paid at the little bar since we couldn't stand listening to the people next to us for a moment longer (not the restaurants fault!). My husband heard the waitress say something to the effect of "oops that's not what I wanted to do." And we thought nothing of it. I signed my receipt and walked out. A few hours later at work my husband asks to use my debit card to buy paint brushes. I say yes because I thought I had $130 in my checking account (don't judge me). I go on my break and check the bank app and Lazy Days has authorized my card for $18 AND $118. This means I do not have any funds available. Authorizations, though pending, take away from your available balance. I immediately call the restaurant and leave a message. I know it's well past their business hours but I expect a prompt return phone call. It was a Tuesday night and I checked, they were open yesterday. I did not receive a call back. Here's the kicker. I had just placed my sons Christmas gift order with the company I work for. I literally sat down at my desk to an email saying that the card declined and the order was cancelled. It is now sold out. I can no longer get the one item he asked for from Santa. All because of a careless waitress, who didn't have the common decency to warn me that she had mistakenly authorized my card not just twice, but for over 5 times the amount owed. At least then I could've borrowed money from my mom so that I wouldn't have lost out on the last couple of sloth stuffed animals my son wanted. The charge is still pending. America first pends authorizations for the full 5 business days. Really unfortunate for me that I am missing $118 during the holidays. Also wasn't able to Black Friday shop for the ninja turtle my son wanted. Happy thanksgiving! **** the business owner did call me and was very apologetic, but there's nothing really that can be done since its pending only on my end. Oh well! And such is life. I'll give these guys a second ago for the lemon pancakes and I will pay cash!

This has become my weekend Brunch Spot. I now have had EVERYTHING on the Menu. Took a couple of months. But I can say without a doubt Lemon Pancakes, Shrimp and Grits and the Vegie Benedict (Technically it is fruit because it is Avocado and Tomato but it is wonderful). I have the Belly Card, I have my favorite places to sit and I have no favorite Staff Member I love them all! I have become rather picky about Grits. My thought is this, if you do not know how to cook them properly do not have them on your menu. (True for Egg and I, and Village Inn) But they have them perfect here every time. I always get a Benedict with cheesy grits now. I sub the Cheesy grits for the hash browns because I am not a big fan of potatoes. And the Lazy Day hash browns are good. But the Benedict's have always come out perfect. The Egg is COOKED TO PERFECTION! I brought my Mom here for lunch a couple weeks ago and hands down the BEST RUBEN she has ever had. The fresh home made chips and the sauerkraut was to die for. The specials on the weekend are worth getting there early for. Quiche and Peaches and Cream French Toast. Ohhhhh man! Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Superior service makes this place shine! Tucked away in a small shopping complex that is typical for the area, Lazy Day is very charming at first glance. Given the glut of brunch places in the area, my standards were already set pretty high, but I was pleasantly surprised. The Lemon Pancakes are delicious! The apple cinnamon syrup glaze they come with is pure heaven. My partner got the Peaches and Cream French Toast which was also very good. The hashbrowns were meh. This place would be four stars, but the exceptional care, diligence, and kindness of the all-male (?!?!) waitstaff really pushed it over the edge for me. Great alternative to Roots Cafe for brunch (and a little cheaper too!)

I was excited to visit the place because of the great reviews, but . . . I went to the Lazy Day Cafe with my friend and I ordered my typical Eggs Benedict while he got the Biscuits and Gravy. The staff was really nice and the place was eclectic and cute. I have to say, though, I haven't had an eggs Benedict that had a more bland hollandaise sauce. My potatoes were OVERLY salted too. The biscuits and gravy were pretty bland too, but I only had one bite of those. I hear, from my sister, that the lemon pancakes were great so maybe it's just a matter of WHAT you order. Can't win 'em all I suppose.

I enjoyed lazy day. The service was attentive and fast. The food was fresh and divine. Only problem was the burnt hash browns in our breakfast burrito. Other than that, I believe I will return to this awesome little find!

We just moved to the area and we're looking for a nice brunch spot that wasn't overcrowded. So glad we stopped here. This is a great little gem. I got the biscuits and gravy. Their gravy is homemade with chunks of sausage AND bacon. Top notch. Will definitely make this a regular spot.

Definitely caters to the over-60 crowd. I ordered the garlic burger... Which was fine... But the service was slow and the environment definitely leaves something to be desired. The servers were friendly, however, I probably won't return.

Cute little restaurant. Seats about 30 at a time so be sure to get up and there before about 10am! Owner and family are here consistently. Daily specials usually involve a quiche or two. Not an extensive menu but food never disappoints. Coffee is good. Must try's are the lazy deluxe which is chicken on a biscuit that's out of this world and the homemade lemon pancakes with a buttermilk sauce...that's the reason I got up this morning.

Great place, small and kinda hidden but well worth it. I had the lemon pancakes and they were great. My wife is a huge Cafe Rio fan and said the breakfast burrito at Lazy Day rivals anything that they make. Great place defiantly will return.

I had the pleasure of finding this great jewel tucked in the conner of Ivy Place. My brother and I had stopped in on a dark brisk and rain day. The ambience of this cafe is unpretentious, inviting, and charming. Service was proficient and very pleasant. Now enough with the pleasantries lets get down to the nitty-gritty! Deluxe breakfast sandwich- this is RIDICULOUS!!!! Like ridiculous because I didn't think to come here sooner, RIDICULOUS-NESS! This is serious business, no messing around kind of sandwich. So here is the low-down; it is a buttery flaky biscuit, between these two slices of heaven is crispy and juicy fried chicken(you can taste that it lived a happy life), but oh no they don't stop there... that happy chicken is on top of a bed of salty bacon-goodness and to top it all off a over-easy egg accompanied with delightful gravy. It mouth-watering! Sunday Special- Fried polenta with maple turkey sausage- Polenta was perfectly fried and not oily or heavy. Maple turkey sausage was light and didn't leave me feeling cheated. It was a nice gear change from the Deluxe breakfast sandwich. drum roll please... the Blueberry cream cheese french toast (don't judge me because I had all three!!!) One non-existing word to describe it is ,"YUMM-O-LICIOUS!!!!" The french toast just warm my soul on this dark brisk rainy morning. It is more like bread pudding with burst of fresh blueberries and chucks of cream cheese dotting throughout this bread pudding Nirvana. I could totally be off here since I kind of in a food coma, the buttery maple syrup gets saturated in the bread pudding taste like it has a hint of coconut... But one thing I do know is this place is affordable, cozy, and most of all Delicious!!! Check it out or not because it is less of a wait for me ! :)

Food is fabulous here!! Try the lazy day deluxe - breakfast and lunch goodness all in one. Sweet tooth? Definitely share the lemon pancakes for dessert. My only qualm with the place is that it's a bit stuffy inside.

Brilliant. Chicken fried chicken breakfast was amazing. Chicken was coated with Panko and topped with the best gravy. Lemon pancakes were superb. We stumbled onto this place by accident but will return with purpose!!!

Lazy Day has excellent food and their pancakes are to die for. My favorites are the lemon pancakes. Their syrup also has a slight carmel flavor and it is so good I could drink it by the glass. Very cute little diner with an old timey feel. Lazy Day manages to pair everything that is great about an old fashioned diner with new and delicious food. I would give this restaurant a five star review, but on our last visit their service deserved a one star review and maybe less. They are lucky their food is so dang good. Here is a hint to make sure you have the best dining experience possible: If you walk in and there is one waitress and a mostly full restaurant, you may want to leave and save your visit for a time when they are more appropriately staffed.

The food was good but you'll have to get here early and not around noon with a 20 min wait to get the baked French toast that I really wanted to try. Also it took 10 mins to get to cups of coffee, but I'll forgive them since they were waiting on a fresh pot that was nice and strong. They botched my sons kids meal of scrambled eggs and bacon and served him a lazy deluxe with blackberry jam which was the best thing on the table we had. The server also forgot my son's milk order until I had to ask for it myself. The service could be better but the food is good. I'll be back but with not so high expectations on service.

I' see the sign for Lazy Day Cafe all the time. And every single time I say, "Ooh I forgot. I need to go!" I finally made it and I'm a little sad that it took me this long. On my first visit, I had the traditional breakfast and it was well done. I'm a little bit in love with their biscuits. Buttery and delicious. Don't expect crazy light fluffy biscuits. My dining partner had the french toast and just as others have said, yum. It really is different than regular french toast and more like bread pudding. Zero complaints here. The second time I went, I gave in and tried the Lazy Deluxe sandwich that involves fried chicken, bacon, cheese, and a biscuit. I had to be wheeled out but it happened with a smile on my face. It's definitely not something I'd order regularly. Not because it isn't delicious, because it is. But because I don't want to spend the rest of the week at the gym. Being a spice fiend, I'm happy to report that Lazy Day Cafe has a lot of hot sauces to choose from. Yes, there are the standard cholulas and tabascos but there are a lot of other options that get spicier! Yes! My next visit is going to include those lemon pancakes...

The lemon pancakes were wonderful! The buttermilk syrup was the best syrup I've ever had, except real Maple. My friend had the biscuits and gravy, which she didn't enjoy. We ordered the biegnets, they were dry greasy giant thick donut holes. Really gross. The other customers were friendly, and the service was ok. Just stick with the pancakes and avoid the biegnets, they are not the light fluffy deliciousness that they should be.

Lemon pancakes! Obviously their most famous item is delicious. Other breakfast options are awesome, maybe a bit greasy but that's cool. Lazy Day breakfast is gigantic and yummy. Super affordable and the portions are hefty!

Holy crap! This place is So good! I ordered the veggie benedict. Probably the best thing I have every had! I also got one lemon pancake (I hate pancakes) I loved loved this one! My wife got the biscuits and gravy. It had a lot of flavor. Superb staff!!!

This was our first time here and it was so great!!! I had the Lazy Deluxe breakfast & the bf has the Banana caramel french toast special. The first thing I took a bite of were the hash browns. Blew. My. Mind. Not the tasteless stick potatoes you're used to, they had so much flavor! Really Fantastic! The chicken was moist, the gravy delish, and terrific biscuit. The French Toast will give you cavities, but it's so worth it! We tried the beignets and having them in New Orleans these are different. More like a cinnamon donut hole deep fried with delicious powdered sugar. Give them a try! So good with the coffee! Customer service was on point also! Can't wait to come back!

Been to the Lazy Day 3 times. First time I had Eggs Benedict, the poached eggs where over cooked slightly, the hash browns were burn't. I returned the second time because I heard the lemon pancakes were phenomenal and they were. So I retuned for the pancakes. This Time not so good, the pancakes were thicker and very chewy. I really like the quaintness of the cafe and the service but I don't plan on returning do to the distance and lack of the consistent quality of the food

You've probably driven by the old strip mall that houses Lazy Day Cafe without so much as a second look. Nestled all the way in the back is a gem of a breakfast spot. Walking in you'll be greeted with funky, mismatched decor from the wall art to the tables and chairs. If you want an upscale brunch experience where you can be assured you and your date will have matching mugs and silverware, this isn't your place. What you will get is a solid dose of charm and some seriously good breakfast grub. Several of the most popular breakfast items that people rave about are only available for weekend brunch, so plan a visit for a Saturday or Sunday. Some of those same breakfast items can and do sell out. Get there early to make sure you get what you want; several tables on my last visit were overheard trying to order items they had run out of for the day. My go-to is the "Lazy Deluxe", breaded chicken served atop a fresh biscuit and bacon. A fresh egg and gravy top it off and a portion of hash browns rides sidecar. Several bites in and your plate looks like a war zone of wonderful brunch flavors. On my two visits I've found the service to be adequate and the workers friendly unlike some of the other reviews. I'll continue to work this charming spot in to my brunch rotation.

Pancakes that taste exactly like cakey lemon bars? Frankly, people, every bite of this dish is a religious experience. These are the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had, and the caramel syrup is definitely something to write home about. I'm from out of town (east coast), but this place seems like the quintessential, feel-good, hometown breakfast place. The interior is modest but comfortable, and the food is simple but delicious. The wait staff was friendly, as well. My friend and I ordered an omelette and the lemon pancakes, and I was so impressed! Everything we ordered was solid or the best I've ever had! I really liked the hash browns: crispy on the outside and soft on the inner portions. MMMM! If you are looking for a relaxed, casual breakfast with a friend or partner, you won't be disappointed!

I absolutely love this place. My sister and I do brunch and shopping a lot of weekends - we used to bounce around breakfast joints but we don't even bother now that we've found this place. It's small and cozy, the food is great and cheap, and we feel comfortable taking our time drinking coffee and chatting for a long while after we finish eating. The staff is friendly and efficient. Biscuits and gravy = amazing. The lemon pancakes are insanely good, but a little to much sweet for me to have alone for breakfast. My sister and I usually order pancakes and something savory and then split it.

Absolutely the best breakfast place in town. Try the Lazy Deluxe or biscuits and gravy. Everything here is made by people who have a passion for good food. Thank you!

I had never heard of the Lazy Day Cafe until a few days ago. I hopped on yelp to get an idea of what to order. The Lemon Pancakes sounded like a fabulous choice.....and they were!!! So delicious! Light, fluffy and with a nice lemon flavor! I can't stop thinking about them! The Breakfast Burrito was ordered by my friend, and it was huge and looked delicious. I stole a bite, and it was just what I hopes it would taste like! The service was a little slow, but the place was really crowded, and the food more than made up for the wait! I can't wait to go back again!

Lazy Day is a small place, very Ma & Pa, but with a very friendly staff. We've been twice and loved the Baked French Toast, it is divine! I had the Eggs Benedict and was very happy. We will be back! Not good for groups over 4.

This place is hidden gem that should be slammed for weekend brunch but you're glad its not because its a secret for you to keep. I've been looking for some good grits in salt lake and this is the place! Their breakfast tops all our other favorite local places, lemon pancakes are to die for and their eggs bennie was delectable.

We liked the biscuits and gravy and the lemon pancakes. I typically don't like lemon flavored things, but I did like the pancakes. Prices are fair. The side of sausage came with two good size patties and they listened when I requested them extra brown.

I was a little skeptical about trying this place out but I am sure glad I did... very good and I will definitely be back. I would describe this place as a "Slow Food Diner." First, this is a small place that feels big. Only a few tables and some counter space. There is a nice cozy fireplace with some seating which makes it feels very homey. I ate here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. No waiting but all of the tables were full. There were three specials in addition to the regular menu. I ordered the Lazy Day Deluxe which was a breakfast I have never had (bonus!): A fried chicken breast sandwich with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg, all on a homemade biscuit. It came with country gravy (very good), hash browns, and diced fresh tomatoes. Way too big to eat as a sandwich, which is why it came with a steak knife. Unusual, but very good... kind of like a deluxe biscuits and gravy,. My companion had one of the specials - corned beef hash. This was real corned beef - very fresh - and was cooked with potatoes and parsnips (I love parsnips and very few people cook with them anymore). On my list of good breakfast places - this place has good coffee and decent bacon. Another great thing about this place is the vast amount of specialty hot sauce available... an entire sideboard devoted to the stuff. Great choices, and stuff you can't normally find here in Utah. Service was a bit slow but once we mentioned we had an appointment to get to, we were quickly taken care of. My only real complaint is that I could not pull up their website or menu on my smartphone. I just about did not go here because I could not load their webpage. Fix this little issue and all will be perfect.

I crave the corn beef & hash & dream of the lemon pancakes. Yes, the place is small, but it adds to the charm. If you plan on getting seated & served quickly - head on over to McDonalds. It's worth the wait to be seated & enjoy a delicious fresh cooked meal here. The staff is awesome!

The one and only reason they are getting 3 stars is because of the food. The pancakes, eggs and potatoes, and gravy were delightful. My husband was happy to see they had rye toast! The service has a long way to go to even be decent. Our friends arrived early and they sat them and we arrived just 2 min later. In those two minutes the worker told them they shouldn't have been seated yet without us there. There were only 4 of us total and it wasn't even busy. it's not my friends fault the server seated them. So...not a great start, sheesh! We joined them and waited about 10 minutes for menus when I finally got up and asked someone. We ordered and when I gave the server my menu I realized my menu was totally different from my husbands menu! His was brunch with about twice as many options as my breakfast menu. ??? Food arrived timely and as stated before was so delish! We had to ask for butter for my pancakes and hubby's toast, kinda weird but oh well. But my poor friend only got one refill on her coffee the whole time we were there! We were never visited by the server again, she didn't ask if we needed anything or if the food was good. Nothing. When we were finished and chatting they made rude comments right by us about how some people were waiting for a table. So I looked across the cafe and there were two tables that hadn't been cleaned off yet. I was really hoping those comments weren't aimed at us but looking back on their service as a whole I think in fact it was. My sweet husband way over tipped this lady. I will still be hunting for a good breakfast cafe and probably won't be back here. I'm so disappointed :(

A great little cafe with delicious food, but better choices on the weekends. I came on a weekday and had their special, which was the prosciutto, capicola and onion omelette with pepperjack cheese and it was delicious. I also tried one of their lemon pancakes (I am normally not a lemon fan) but with the syrup it made it very good. Apparently they have a lot more choices on the weekends so I will have to come back and try again!

Been here twice now. First time: I had the lemon pancakes with a side of bacon and grits, both of which were amazing. Second time: i got the biscuits and gravy with some bacon on the side. The service is great and there's not really anything I could complain about. The food is consistently good and fresh! My only complaint is that I wish more dishes came in a sort of combo rather than having to purchase everything a la carte which raises the price up quite a bit. Though I suppose it's nice to have the option to pick and choose what you want your side to be each time you go. The restaurant is tucked way back off of 3300 South in the Ivy Place strip mall in the corner. It makes for a nice quiet place to eat outside on a Sunday morning with some decent shade. Last time my fiance and I went, several folks had brought their smallish dogs to hang out on the outside patio with them so we'll probably do the same when we return again and again. Looking forward to my next morning breakfast...

Stopped here after going by Park Cafe and the line was ridiculously long. And turned out to be the best thing that happened cause this place was great! Our waiter, Kyle, was fabulous. Great personality. Excellent recommendations. Yes the lemon pancake is amazing. As was the French toast special. Good coffee which is very important at a breakfast place. John also attended to us - hard worker, pleasant. Definitely worth a visit.

I dream about Lazy Day's lemon pancakes. I'm thrilled to see them become more popular, but I admit that this place is one of my favorite hidden gems in Millcreek. The employees (and owners?) are kind, attentive and unpretentious. Ask for the quiche specials, because they are often amazing.

I would give the lazy day cafe 3.5 stars. My boyfriend and I split the biscuits and gravy, and the French toast. The biscuits and gravy was good, a little light on the amount of gravy, but it was really tasty. Biscuits were slightly chewy, but not dry. French toast was nice, I really enjoyed the cream cheese that was baked into it. The bottom was a tad bit dry, but it was no big deal. The service was fast, and they had good coffee, with real cream. I did enjoy breakfast overall, portions were a little small, but the prices were great. I would come back but it wouldn't be my go to breakfast place.

When it comes to brunch, I'm not sure you can do much better than Lazy Day. Tight, focused menu. Pancakes of the lemon variety that are so light they almost float off the plate. The Lazy Deluxe sandwich is...um...what's the euphemism for "gut bomb" that I'm looking for? Oh, right...filling. Of course, if you're ordering fried chicken on a biscuit with cheese, an egg, and sausage gravy and expecting it to have the caloric content of a salad, it's kind of your fault, right? I mean "gut bomb" in the nicest way possible; I loved the sandwich. Incredibly friendly staff and a local business that I'm excited to support. Wait, I'm missing something: dessert. Yes, I had dessert with breakfast. The strawberry and balsamic vinegar ice cream was delicious, with big chunks of strawberry that were almost too big to navigate while frozen. The flavor was, however, spot on. And then there was the bread pudding. There is nothing I hate worse than bad bread pudding. A business really has to sell me on a bread pudding for me to venture there, because I've been burned many times. When it's done right, though, I love it. Notable bread puddings for me include Pago's banana bread pudding, the bread pudding with goat's cheese caramel at the dearly departed Acme Burger, and my gold standard, Rooster's caramel bread pudding with its copious caramel sauce. Make that my previous gold standard: Lazy Day has it beat. The caramel sauce is freshly made. I wish I had more details to share. I was too busy knocking my wife's fork away to pay closer attention than that. The prices are such that, the next time we visit, I think we'll probably spring for separate orders of the stuff.

Holy cow this is a hidden place! Look for the Ivy business complex. This place does so many things right, at least how I think a neighborhood cafe should be. The people there are sassy from the workers to the regulars. This place lives up to their name, things kinda move at their own pace although the entire time the kitchen was working at a frenzied rate. I had a hard choice as everything on the menu looked great! So I ended up order TWO breakfasts for myself the baked French toast and the Lazy Day Special. The local farm fresh eggs we cooked as ordered. The hashbrowns were well cooked without being mushy and the right balance of regular and crispy strips of potato. The bread of choice was their biscuit, oh so delicious-light and flaky. I can't wait to try their biscuits and gravy! The only disappointment was the bacon, that magical beast. It was thin and overly greasy and limp. (see photo) The baked French toast is more like a bread pudding with nuggets of cream cheese mixed in with the blueberries. My tongue tingled with delight over the textures of this baked delight. So you have been warned that this made from scratch, super good food is worth waiting for. So instead of getting impatient at the service, strike up a conversation and relax, kinda like waiting around for Thanksgiving dinner with family. And just like Thanksgiving dinner, the good stuff goes fast. Don't be surprised that they run out of some items, like Utah scones since they take a day to make. PS. All the other patrons had 20 years on me. I was glad this place wasn't full of hipsters and trendy people. There was a woman who's hair was as purple as her sweater, but she was a grandma. Lots of retired blue collar folks. When the priest walked in, I knew this had to be good.

We have been coming here almost regularly on Sunday for brunch since we first found this place in September 2013. And it still deserves a 5star rating. Family run, great staff, and beyond delicious food. Make sure you ask what the specials are but if you get there passed 12don't be surprised if they are out of most of them...the food it's that good and that popular! I will always highly recommend the lemon pancakes, but if you don't want to get a full order, here is a little suggestion I like to offer first timers....if you order something else on the menu and it comes with toast ask for a pancake instead (it's only $1 extra but I promise it's totally worth it). Something else that's so simple but a huge favorite if my boyfriend is the side of Pico with some of the dishes. So simple but so delicious. And most of all we love the staff and great service..it's a small place so you may have to wait some days but it is totally worth it. Love lazy day!!

I like this place, I really do ................ I am looking forward to going back again. I want to be clear, if I was ranking my top ten breakfast places the Lazy Day Cafe would be on the list but it would not be number one. The lemon pancakes are a treat, the biscuit's & gravy were above average, the hash browns were good, and the eggs were cooked exactly as I ordered them. Like I said, I like this place. Locally owned is a bonus in my book, the staff was very nice the day that we went in, the restaurant was clean, and overall it was a good experience. Like I said, I like this place. Until next time my fellow Yelpers ..................... Be Local, Live Local, and whenever you can, Buy Local!!!

I have never been so disappointed with service at a restaurant this badly in my entire life. We waited for a table for over a half hour and when a table opened up that could fit us our party was completely overlooked and the hostess sat a group of similar size that just barely walked in. Never going back.

I love this place. My husband and I love to go in on the weekends and sit at the counter. It's a family-owned business, and it's fun to watch them interact with one another. The food is awesome. Everything from the breakfast burrito to the lemon pancakes and the lazy day breakfast is wonderfully prepared. I can't get enough.

This place reminds me of some of the diners I use to go to when I lived in Caribou, Maine. The food is different, the food here is good. My wife and I stopped by early enough to try the breakfast and I have to admit I do like their Shrimp and Grits. A bit too spicy for my wife, but I thought it was perfect. Just the way I have had it in the Carolina's. Definitely makes this place high on my list of places to go back to. The grits were even done right, gotta give them credit for that.

How can a place called Lazy Day Cafe, a so-called "breakfast/brunch" spot NOT serve breakfast all day? Maybe if their website were working, I would've known they stop serving breakfast at 11am, at which point I would've gone to a real breakfast place instead. I mean really. We were the only patrons there. Why not just crack an egg on a pan and take my money? But since we already sat down and drank their water before discovering they no longer serve breakfast, we decided we might as well stay and try their sandwiches. My boyfriend ordered a roasted turkey sandwich, which turned out bland and completely lackluster. I opted for the chicken sandwich, which was more expensive yet only half the size of the turkey sandwich. Needless to say, I was dismayed at the tiny portion and still starving when I was finished. I would've ordered an additional side or sandwich, but at this point I was convinced that anything I ordered would be mediocre, uninspired and just not worth it. I've never been so dissatisfied by a restaurant in my life. I went home and made myself a real sandwich. If their breakfast is as good as the other reviewers claim, I don't understand why the owners even bother to attempt making lunch sandwiches. Why not just capitalize on their strengths and serve breakfast all day? Their lunches are such a disappointment, they shouldn't even bother.

What a delightful little gem! This tiny restaurant is as tasty as it is fresh. The hubs took me there after he'd helped himself to a solo trip and he raved about the biscuits and gravy for a week straight. I had heard a lot about their lemon pancakes so I already made up my mind before I'd gotten there about what I was having, or so I thought. The place is small and kind of thrown together. It looks like the owners asked friends and neighbors for any furniture, utensils, décor that they were going to throw out and that's what they used to furnish the place. Fine by me if the food is good. The staff was polite enough. Again, they don't have to be overly doting if they can cook. The man ordered the B&G and I decided on the strata but I got one lemon pancake for the two of us to share since I'd heard so much about them. The strata was TO.DIE.FOR. Sorry, mom! Honestly, it was heaven on a plate! The eggs were fresh, the sausage was spicy, it was perfection. Even though I'm not a fan of biscuits and gravy, I gave it a try and it was very tasty. The biscuits were fluffy and the perfect balance between dense and flaky. We had to taste the pancake and we only had room for a couple bites which was perfect b/c those things are like a dessert. They were lemony and rich and delicious. Oh, and let's not forget about the coffee. At 8 a.m., it's almost as important as the meal. Almost. It was great coffee. Really, give this place a try. If you want local, homemade food, this is the place!

Small breakfast and brunch joint, tucked in the corner of a strip mall. The food really spoke for itself. Had the shrimp and grits special which was buttery and flavorful. Fast and attentive service, with a real home feel. Not too many seats inside the place, so definitely get here early. A truly local establishment.

It's borderline 4 star. Perhaps on another trip. This place is really hidden away. It's obviously done on a shoestring. The chairs are not very comfortable, although sitting with some coffee in the comfy chairs by the fire looks like a nice option. I came with my father for a Saturday brunch. I had the quiche and it was quite good. The coffee was well priced and better than average. My father had a traditional bacon/eggs/biscuit breakfast. It was a little hit and miss. The staff was nice. However, while I was eating and visiting, it just kept coming back to me that while I'd like to come again, I would not drive too far out of my way to do so. So, it slid on the OK, rather than fan side of the line. Perhaps another trip will change the thought because I do expect to be here again.

Was passing through town playing in a tennis tournament with friends and one of my teammate's cousins is a cook at Lazy Day Cafe so we had a special invite to check this place out. While we needed some mere sustenance prior to playing our big games, what we got instead was the breakfast of champions. Located in an unassuming strip mall tucked into the corner with some polygonal picnic benches outside, this is one of those ubiquitous mom/pop cafes you would find on FoodNetwork's Diners/Drive-ins/Dives where everything is made fresh to order and thought is put into every item on the menu. Special attention has to be given to the lemon pancakes with housemade syrup. I'm definitely more of a waffle guy 8 times out of 10 when given the choice of pancakes or waffles, but these pancakes rank high up in my pancake pantheon, and I am rarely impressed since I'm accustomed to pancake textures varying in between soggy spongecake akin to ladyfingers in a tiramisu to a flat nerf frisbee that is an adult choking hazard. These pancakes had the same pillowy body of a normal pancake but with the crispiness and lightness of a thin crepe straight off the griddle. Combined with the subtle tartness of fresh lemon and drizzling the thick sweet brown syrup that reminded me of the top layer of a fresh praline in New Orleans, this is as close to pancake perfection as it gets. While I did not try my friends' dishes, the baked French Toast served like a bread pudding with layers of cream cheese and fresh blueberries got raves all around and something I had never seen before was the fried scone served with honey butter that resembled fry-bread. For heartier appetites, there were also traditional combination egg/meat/biscuit/hashbrown combos and they had specials such as quiche and breakfast paninis and burritos. I also noticed the behemoth known as the Lazy Deluxe which was fried chicken on a biscuit with cheese, fried egg, and gravy seemed like a heart attack waiting to happen but could be a nice dish to share amongst a group. In summary, the lemon pancakes are a must try here and the baked french toast does not seem to be a shabby second choice.

I like this place because the service is very friendly and the food is mostly good, except for the highly-touted lemon pancakes. I love pancakes, but these lemon pancakes were very dry and not very flavorful. I was hoping for something really good, and it definitely was not. The pancakes at Penny-Anns are a hundred times better. I was very disappointed. I will say that the coffee at Lazy Day is very good.

I'm gonna go 5 stars on this one. My only gripe would have been the anticipated bacon issue Hang mentioned, except it looks like they have corrected that problem. I got 2 hearty thick slices of crisp bacon and they weren't greasy at all. This place is tiny, hidden, and adorable. When we walked in there were tables of seniors having breakfast and we were by far the youngest in the building. We were greeted and seated and looked over the menu. We were still in time to order breakfast so I went for the chicken on a biscuit smothered in gravy and topped with an egg. It's called the "Lazy Deluxe" and it was ahhhh-mazing. They are in the process of updating their menu so some items may not be available, or a little different than described, but their website is fully updated with their dishes so I would check that out before going. The biggest difference I can see is that they replaced the breakfast scone with a strata dish. I am dying to go back and try the lunch items and the bread pudding and strawberry balsamic ice cream listed on the menu. What really stands out about this place is their fresh quality ingredients. You can taste the freshness especially in their eggs. You can tell a great deal of care is taken to cook items correctly to maximize their flavor potential. Lovely little cafe!!

I had a great experience at The Lazy Day Cafe! Awesome food, awesome service, awesome price! So happy we stopped at this cute little restaurant on our way to the airport, it was definitely a good way to end our trip. Not too busy. We didn't have to wait for a table on a Sunday morning although it's very small. I, myself, am very small and I was filled by the baked French toast. SO GOOD. I had some leftover. My boyfriend and his dad are very big men with huge appetites and are pretty critical of restaurants. They loved this place! Their breakfast burritos filled them up! They were huge, pork filled, green chili, scrambled eggs, wrapped in heaven. My boyfriends mom and his brother had the quiche. It was "to die for". We also had the pleasure of trying the kids sized lemon pancake just for taste. It was more of a lemon cake flavor with a caramel buttermilk syrup but so delicious! Highly recommend eating here. And it's not expensive at all. It's not much to look at but if you like good food and good people it doesn't matter!

Perfect little cafe. Staff is very friendly and food was great. This place is very small, but you know what they say about small little restaurants, they pack a punch! The food was excellent. The staff and the patrons were even better. I took my 96 year old Grandma here for lunch, and she absolutely loved it, there was a fire place and everyone else in the restaurant was elderly too. Upon walking in we had a nice lady tell us that the bean soup was really spicy, and another lady told us the potato chips were home made and great. It was almost as if they knew me and knew that i needed some extra help with my awesome grandma. My grandma went with a Turkey sanwich and my girlfiend and i ordered the Mac N Cheese. Grandma loved the sandwich and we really enjoyed the Mac N Cheese. Great location hidden in the back corner of the shopping complex and it is right down the street from my Grandmas place. I will absolutely come back, and i encourage you to take your grandparents here. If i can stroll in with my 96 year old grandma, than you can too, and i suggest you go soon!

Went here for a little Sunday brunch. Atmosphere is cool and fun. Small place in a little strip center. Actually had to wait a bit to get a table but there was seating at the the counter had we chosen to sit there. Did get to watch as several meals were served and saw good portions with an appealing look. To cut to the chase, the food was good. Not award winning but good. The special was chicken fried steak and eggs. I wish I could find someone to make actual chicken fried steak in the valley. The meat, what there was of it, was covered in a hard crust probably right from Cisco foods. Won't order that again. My wife had the burrito. Now that was good and plenty. She commented on the flavor and amount. She also said the orange juice was great. Coffee was good. All in all a cute little what I would call, boutique diner, which I noticed had garnered a following of regulars. It has all the qualities of a place to come enjoy a fairly good meal and chat. I noticed a lot of the tables even talking between themselves. That's part of what I look for in a Sunday brunch diner. We will come back and give it another shot since we both saw other dishes we would like to try. The staff was friendly and helpful. The prices are not outrageous. The one hugely negative comment I have is the beignets. Having been to New Orleans and other places where these light and delicate pastries are a staple, I was embarrassed by the order we were served. They were more akin to some sort of heavy hush puppy than a true French pastry. This was the original reason we decided to try this place. We were hoping for those airy sweet delicacies covered in confectioners sugar. I could eat a dozen if no one stopped me. These.....I could hardly eat one. Not a totally bad taste, but very heavy batter. I'm thinking the scones they advertise are closer to beignet than what we were served. Anyway, don't change them if you get compliments on them, but please rename them breakfast hush puppy or something. After seeing a few bikers stop in I figured I give that a try next time.

Okay, 5 stars it is. I was vacillating between 4 and 5. The place is a total dive. Like linoleum floors, bright lighting, vinyl covered chairs and wrinkled paper menus dive. You look around and it's a mix of regulars and randoms. My husband and I were the hipsterest people there, and believe me, we're no hipsters. The staff was super friendly and nice- you can tell it's family owned because we were helped by a young kid (maybe 13-14?). We tried the Lazy Day Deluxe, and DA-YAM that panko fried chicken they had in there was something out of this world. The country gravy was delicious- the only problem is that there wasn't enough and it left me wanting more! Their baked french toast aka bread pudding french toast was heavenly and a huge delicious sugar bomb. Yes please, I'd love to dip my sugary bread pudding into more caramelly sauce- and wow the crisp top on that french toast... mmm-MMM!!! And here's an interesting thing for a brunch place- the portions were completely manageable. Usually if my husband and I order 2 entrees, we're taking at least half of that food home. Here, we were both able to finish our meals. So, I suppose if you have a ginorgamous appetite, you might need to order a little extra, since my husband and I are more on the birdy side of eaters. I second Hang's comment- Ivy business complex! It's in the corner. Oh, and our food didn't take long at all, maybe only 5-7 minutes. So maybe the laziness has picked up in pace a little?

I'm a vegetarian, but I still like to eat protein, and I left STARVING! They fail to mention on their menu on their website that breakfast ends at 11am during the week. It does say it near the bottom of their homepage; I should have looked more closely. The eggs on the breakfast menu was my only good option. Sure, they have a vegetarian sandwich, and that's what I ended up getting. But no good whole grain bread, so they left the cream cheese off. So all I got was a pile of veggies. No black bean burger, chickpeas in a salad, lentil soup, no legumes anywhere on the menu. No nuts. No eggs. Slim pickings for vegetarians. I do appreciate that they buy UT grass fed beef. But I don't eat beef!

My boyfriend and I tried this place last weekend for breakfast and we were not disappointed! We didn't have to wait for a table and the service was very fast and friendly. I look forward to eating here again.

I was highly unimpressed by Lazy Day Cafe. The food was good, but service was super slow. The dining room is tiny, but the waitstaff somehow still managed to forget about us. We were seated for 10 minutes before anybody offed menus or drinks. We almost left, but had been waiting so long for a table that we wanted to see what the other people had experienced. We probably should have left. Like I said, the food was good, but it wasn't amazing, so I probably won't be going back any time soon.

I might come back and try this place!!! We walked in to have breakfast and waited for five/ten minutes, no one greeted us or asked if they could help us. So we walked out! I don't think the ambiance is that great, but I wish I could have tried the food.

My husband and I have been here twice now and I find it delightful. We would go more but it is about 20 minutes out of the way for us. The menu is small but everything I have had has been delicious. My tastings have included the veggie quiche, the broccoli and cheese soup, the fried scones with honey butter, the bread that came with the soup, and the Lazy Deluxe. The blueberry french toast and the lemon pancakes sound amazing, can't wait to go back and try them! My husband ordered the corned beef hash both times. He obviously enjoyed it, but I am not a corned beef kinda girl so I'll leave my opinion off of that one...I'm also not usually one for hash browns (they're just a filler item really) but seriously, these hash browns were magnificent! I didn't need any pepper, salt, or ketchup. They were fluffy and buttery and really truly the best hash browns I have ever had in my mouth. Another plus is the waitress we had both times. I suck for not remembering her name, but she is a sweet, helpful, and funny lady. She referred to their syrup as a gateway drug! I found that hilarious. I've noticed people mentioning this place as an old folks convention, but both times I've been were Saturday mornings and there were lots of young people. I specifically remember some hot young guys with beards who looked like they were about to spend the rest of the day hiking or something equally as dreamy...but shhh, don't tell my husband! Okay, let's get back on track here. I like to tip a good amount to make someone's day, so it helps when their food prices are so low. Seriously, I think the most expensive item was $8 something. If your other choice is IHOP or some other breakfast joke, come on over to Lazy Day and have a less expensive, much tastier meal in a much cozier and friendlier atmosphere. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!

I have been to the Lazy Day Cafe three times for breakfast, and ordered the same thing each time. The "Lazy Deluxe" is a fried chicken breast, served on a homemade biscuit, with bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg, all smothered in sausage-laden country gravy. It is served with a mound of crispy, shredded hashbrowns. I know, right?

Small, pleasant restaurant on the South End of Ivy Place is a good place for breakfast. Friendly, efficient service. Young couples and retirees alike enjoy the vibe at this family-run place. Occasionally a little wait on weekends.

Update: Looking for brunch on a lovely late Sunday morning, we thought to head back to the scene of some of the best pancakes that I have had. My mouth began to water as the memory of perfect texture, taste, and lightness floated in. Then, reality smacked me in the face upon our arrival. We sat at the counter as before...restaurant wasn't too busy but people were coming in sporadically. Waited for what seemed like an inappropriate amount of time for water and an offer of coffee while we watched a server run some tickets and chat. I am speaking for myself when I say that the overall atmosphere has gone from kitchy to unappealing. I know how the business can run you down, but hearing the chefs chat about it was awkward. We were also in on the new server grumpily yelling back to the kitchen when she obviously heard the order up. We got our food and my granola was just fine...nothing to write home about but I appreciate that it's made in-house. I will say, my side of eggs were fabulous. SO good. The main attraction, the object of my affection, those lemon pancakes. Looked good as they arrived but they were not cooked through, at all. One of the owners on the floor was very apologetic and mentioned the new kitchen staff. So she put in a new order. We got this (waited quite a while but that's ok if it comes out correctly), and still, not up to par. We ate around the edges and even the taste was off. Needless to say, it was a dissappointing experience. The woman running the front was a stud...very sweet and working her ass off. She comped the meal which was really generous (and appropriate). While I appreciate all they are trying to do, it will definitely be a LONG time before heading back.

We found this tucked away cafe completely by accident after finding out the place we were going to eat at was closed. In the back corner of an old strip mall, this cafe is unassuming but impressed me enough to ensure that I will be returning. The breakfast menu is so full of delicious sounding choices that I had a hard time deciding, but finally settled on the Lazy Deluxe. Let me give you the run down on this concoction: fried chicken on a biscuit with bacon and cheddar cheese, smothered in gravy and then topped with a fried egg. Yes it sounds like a heart attack on a plate but it is amazing. The fried chicken is done perfectly, there are few places that are doing fried chicken this well in Utah. The bacon is great, I disagree with Hang. Mine was thick cut and crisp. Do yourself a favor and make your way to the Lazy Day as soon as you get the chance.

Terrible terrible service. Foods good but every step of the serving process was elongated to the point of torture. We waited twice as long for our check then we did for our food. Total visit time 1 hour. Total eat time 6 min.

Food is fresh, tasty and reasonable. Service is slow but friendly. Portions are on the small side but enough for a meal. Lemon pancakes, biscuits and gravy are good and can't wait to try the French toast. While the food is yummy I would be happier if they could have added another biscuit or more hashbrowns. A couple of extra pennies worth of food would have won me over.

It took 3 times, but I finally got to have breakfast here - this place is closed on Mondays and does not open until 9 AM - I got here at 10 AM on a Tuesday and am pleased that I kept trying. I drink decaf (I am the world's worst sleeper) so they brewed me a fresh pot - decaf is not always the best but this was really good coffee served in a nice big mug - made me very happy. I went for the lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of bacon. The pancakes were great and the portion was huge. The bacon was fine; I expected a better quality offering, maybe some thick cut applewood bacon or something similar? I also liked the service - I had everything that I needed but was left to read my magazine and enjoy my breakfast in peace. I will be back to try some of the savory offerings.

This is the best place to be on Sunday morning. Comfortable cafe, super friendly service and excellent food. They are happy to do substitutions, a mountain of side dishes to make a meal or pretty much whatever you want. The wait for food was no longer than anywhere else. Definitely a new favorite for weekend breakfast/brunch.

I like many things about Lazy day Cafe. To name a few things, I like that they use organic ingredients, locally owned, and always friendly. I tried their biscuits and gravy and they tasted fresh and biscuits were very fluffy. It's small inside but if you stop by during the week you'll be seated right away. You have to give them a try.

So when we first arrived at this restaurant I wasn't sure I wanted to eat there. The decor is something like your grandma's house and to me that usually isn't a great sign. However, I ordered the lemon pancakes and was pleasantly surprised at how amazing the food is! If you are looking for a great breakfast check this place out!

Lazy day pretty much sums it up. The waitresses are older women who definitely don't want to serve you. They act burdened that you have even come to the restaurant. The food was very average. It wasn't very busy and we waited for 20 minutes to be seated at a table that had been empty for 15 minutes. After being there for just under an hour and a half I couldn't wait to leave. Breakfast doesn't take long to cook especially when the establishment is so small that your crowd is never very large. In the end I felt that the name of the cafe definitely sums up the attitudes of everyone who works there.

Love it... Food was all made with fresh yummy ingredients and I could feel my arteries hardening from all the lovely butter... What a way to go. Great selection of teas-love that! I had eggs Benedict... The sauce was fabulous so much so I asked for an extra side. The French toast was more a bread pudding- so good but not my speed for breakfast, however half awaits me in the fridge for later... I love eating my kids' rejects when we eat out. The hash browns were wonderfully buttery. The negative? The temp of the food could have been a bit warmer. The eggs were poached to a hard medium, I prefer a bit more runny yolk and the whole dish needed more heat. The hash browns tasted amazing but needed more crisping... And to be hotter. My oldest got the veg beef soup and said it was pretty good but mine is better.... Gotta love that in a kid! I am excited to make my way back sometime for a lunch during the week. I didn't see their specials 'till after I ordered, so next time I'll make sure to notice. Love the mission of fresh locally sourced food and TONS of butter. Great way to celebrate my daughter's 10th birthday... And the resultant nap was delightful too. Nothin' like a tummy full of carbs on a winter day when I'm not feeling motivated. Bottom line... Go here

This is my favorite brunch spot in slc! Everything I've had here is amazing, but I would especially recommend the lemon pancakes and the grits. (I'm originally from the South, and these are the best grits I've had since high school!) The decor is super cute--working fireplace!--and the staff, which seems to be mostly one family, is wonderfully sweet. Definitely go here for brunch! Go early on the weekends, though, as they close at 2, and it's generally pretty crowded.

Interestingly, most of the reviews are about brunch. I have never eaten breakfast or brunch here, but am a serious fan of their lunch menu. It is such a tough choice when I go there whether to get the Garlic Burger, the Reuben, Pulled Pork (spicy) or the Grilled Steak. And there are other choices that slip into the top of my list now and then. And the home-made chips are wonderful, especially when still warm. I have never found the service to be a problem, but I am not a fan of fast food places. But if I stop by to pick up a lunch to take to work, it is recognized that I am in more of a hurry, and the meal comes out packaged in a recyclable box quickly. My only complaint, but it does not cause any less stars, is that I wish they were open until 3pm. My schedule does cause me to eat lunch late many times

Get the lemon pancakes w caramel syrup AND the biscuits & gravy. Both were incredible! Coffee was good & service was excellent. Wish I lived closer to this place... I'd eat here every morning!

It was just before 1:00 pm. The tables were full with one group waiting. There were spaces at the counter. I took one and gave my order in a few minutes. Then waited and waited. Food sat on the shelf waiting to be served for over fifteen minutes. Some of the help were assigned tasks by the owned and when finished stood around not knowing what to do next. Very, very disorganized place. Finally I got my order about ten minutes after the owner asked what side I wanted. In all it took over thirty minutes after I placed my order until the food arrived. The sandwich was hot and very good. The fries were somewhat inconsistent both in size and doneness some of them reminded me of shoe string fries from the bag. The restaurant got slammed with business after a favorable review in the local newspaper. However the have not stepped up to the challenge of how to handle the increase in business. If they don't soon all is for naught.

Love this place. I am a regular, and have been going since the week they opened. The food is always spectacular. The prices are more than fair, and the staff is always so kind and on top of everything.

I visited for the first time today, a quiet Tuesday morning. I had heard good things, but had failed to locate it on previous drive-by's, as it is fairly hidden in the back part of the Ivy shopping center. My server (owner?) was very friendly and attentive, and the breakfast burrito was tasty and filling. The atmosphere is homey and cute, and has wifi. I hope to return soon to sample the lemon pancakes.

I stopped here while I was out running errands one Saturday morning. It was very pleasant. The crew is laid back yet professional. They know the menu and can give recommendations. Things were quiet, but very casual. They knew their business neighbors. It was like a little neighborhood. I tried the blueberry cream cheese baked french toast--it was SUPER. It was unique and delicious. And moderately priced.

Very cozy and friendly atmosphere. My wife and I had breakfast. I ordered the breakfast burrito and she ordered the veggy eggs Benedict. We both thought the food was delicious. Prices are very reasonable.
